TMZ just posted a photo of Rihanna after Chris Brown allegedly beat her. No one deserves to be hit, especially not like this. He better get charged with something. I'm so glad I'm not his PR person right now. There's no way you could spin this story to get him back in the public's good graces.

Fashion Week Fanatic

Yes, I'll admit it. The fashion week fanatic I speak of in the title is myself.

Every year I get really excited when fashion week comes around. One weekend a few seasons ago, my mom and I actually got to walk the runways before the models did. The runways were just starting to be laid out and we just happened to be walking through Bryant Park. It was so exciting! I just wish I had a picture of it.

Fashion week started last Friday and I was there to witness the action and get my free Monster! Let me clarify. I went to get cupcakes and clothes and just happened to be given free Monster Energy drinks from a guy in a Monster promotional truck as I walked to Macy's.

I took this as I stood in line for my Crumbs' cupcakes. I ♥ those G-Star ads.

I went to NYC to swing by Crumbs and stop by Macy's & H&M. Originally I went to Macy's to get another pair of my DKNY Skinny Jeans that go with everything. During my visit I unexpectedly found this amazing pair of grey DKNY skinny jeans. They look more like pants than jeans and the bottoms of the legs have these button details that I love. Since the store was having a President's Day sale I got them for $20. As I made my way from Macy's to the H&M on the corner of 5th and 42nd I walked by the entrance to the tents. It wasn't that crowded at the time I passed by. The red dress show had already taken place a few hours before and the next show wasn't set to start for another two hours or so. I didn't manage to get in the tents, but I did get my free WWD paper. Yay me! I was emailed an H&M coupon that gave me 20% off one item so I ventured in to see what I could find. I ended up getting two dresses (one blue, the other purple, both with graphic prints) and an off-white button down shirt - score!

Now that the semester's started, it's hard to keep track of all the shows. I go online and flip through slideshows whenever I can spare a moment. My TV is always on NYC TV at 9PM so I can keep up-to-date with all the shows. I literally do my homework with runway shows in the background. This year Video Fashion Daily is replacing Full Frontal Fashion so I'm still trying to get used to the new format. I like the way VFD cuts away to interviews and goes back to the show instead of having commentators talk over the show. That can get a little distracting at times. Although, I do miss my FFF commentators. My favorite part of VFD is the model feature. So far I've seen the features for Chanel Iman, Lakshmi Menon, Jourdan Dunn and Arlenis Sosa (who one of my friends walked into over the weekend - literally).

Here's the schedule for the show. As you can see, the William Rast show will be airing on Wednesday at 10PM so don't bother calling me. I won't be answering any phones or replying to any texts (like I ever do that in real life lol).

So if I'm absent from DIABM for the next two weeks, you'll know where I'll be. Once the shows are all done and I've had time to reevaluate them, I'll do my big Fall '09 post.

I’m going to finish up this paper now. While I’ve typed up two and a half pages about the Grammy’s, I can barely write two pages about the Sunday edition of the NY Daily News.

Word of the Day: tragicomically

I was just flipping through a New York magazine slideshow when I came across my new favorite word. For those of you who hopefully remember grammar school English (unlike kids in my copy editing class), you will recognize that tragicomically is a compound word.

tragicomically: adj
Something that is both tragic and comical at the same time.
Example: The film ends tragicomically when he chokes on his hat.

The Superbowl My Way :: Hotness vs Hair

I don't really care about football of the American persuasion too much. The only thing I know about football is Chad Pennington being transferred to the Miami Dolphins and Favre taking his spot. I'm still mad about that. I was secretly glad that he beat them when the Dolphins played the Jets. Anyways, I'm rooting for the Cardinals because that was my mascot in elementary school and high school.



The only thing I know about the team is that Matt Leinart's hot, but he's a bit of a party boy. While searching for a photo of him, I came across scandalous pics of him with various unknown girls in a hot tub. (Google it.) There was even one of Paris Hilton kissing him on the cheek and another of him and Kristin Cavallari, who he used to date. And I found out he has a son with his former girlfriend who also attended USC and played basketball. According to some old People article I found, she was mad because she takes care of the son and he gets all the credit. Anyways, I read something that he and Nick Lachey are friends, so he can't be all that bad. I think.



On the other hand, I like Tony Polamalu from the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has great hair. I didn't really do any digging into his life, but I did watch an interview with him earlier today in which he spoke about his long locks. Apparently when he's off the field he wears his hair back, but when he's on the field he wears it loose. He said that's what warriors of the past used to do. When he wears his hair down he feels like he's going into battle and his hair's his armor. Sounds good to me. I just hope no one pulls it during the game.

So all in all, I'm rooting for Cardinals, but if the Superbowl winner was based on character, I think I'd have to go with the Steelers. Leinart has a little too many scandals for my taste, but he is hot!

It's Superbowl Sunday!

Get excited! In about an hour and a half the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals will go head-to-head in Tampa. While the Steelers have a good track record with 25 Superbowl appearances in the last 37 years and 5 wins, the Cardinals are Superbowl virgins.



I hear President Obama's rooting for the Steelers.



I'm rooting for the Cardinals because that was my elementary and high school mascot for 13 years.

It's That Time of Year Again

No matter how many blogs I've had, on January 31st my blog post is always Justin Timberlake-related. Why? Well, today just happens to be his birthday, that's why.

Today the guy who brought sexy back to the world is turning 28. It feels like just yesterday that he was 17 and tearin' up our hearts with the boys of NSYNC.

It may come as a shock to people who met me post middle school, but I really wasn't much of a JT fan until I was 13. I know! Alert the media, right? When NSYNC first came out I loved Chris' hair, but I was totally planning to marry Lance. I even liked this guy in junior high because I thought he looked like Lance. Then Chris cut his hair, Lance came out, and my first crush wasn't so cute anymore (stay away from alcohol; it ages you).

One night I was watching Justin in some NSYNC concert and he just caught my eye. Since then I've been a fan of Mr. JT and he never ceases to amaze me.

So happy birthday Justin and many many more!
