Mess with Me

I'm working on a project for my advertising class. Each group has to create a media schedule and budget proposal for their product. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to include circulation information for the magazines we chose to use or not. I emailed my professor for more info. While I am awaiting his response, I started looking at magazine circulations.

My group decided we would use GamePro as one of the magazines. I searched their website for circulation information and was unable to find anything. I decided to email the East Coast Senior Account Executive to see if I could get any info.

Here's what I sent him:

Hi,
I'm doing a project for my advertising class. I wanted to know what the circulation of GamePro is.
Thanks for your time.
- Shari

Here's what he sent me:

Shari,

When requesting information from a company it is probably a good idea to make your email a little bit longer and to actually put it in the form of a request. I don’t see a question mark anywhere in your email J.

Our circulation is off limits. You can have our rate base which is how we choose to do business. That number is 2,535,000 and represents the number of readers we have.

Aaron

Why I'm mad:

I've sent a dozen messages to companies before with this format and no one has ever complained. I will admit that my initial email could have been written better, but I'm running on 4 hours of sleep and caffeine here.

I know he was just trying to constructively criticize my question. However, if he is going to take the time to point out that I did not include a question mark (which is not needed if you reread my message), I am going to take the time to point out his typo.

What's wrong with this sentence:

"I don't see a question mark anywhere in your email J."

Why is there a "J" at the end of Aaron's sentence? If you know, please post a comment.

Let this be an example for all. If you correct my writing, please make sure you don't have any errors in your response or I will make it known. Thank you.
