Under the 'Influence'

No, I'm not drunk. Since I finished my last final two weeks ago, I've spent my free time (a.k.a. whenever I'm not sleeping late) reading Influence. For those of you who don't know, Influence is a collection of interviews Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen did from 2007 to 2008. The girls interviewed people that have influenced them greatly over the years such as Christian Louboutin and Terry Richardson.



The interviews are full of just so much wisdom from fashion icons and artists like Margherita Missoni, George Condo, Karl Lagerfeld, and Peter Lindbergh. While reading, I wrote down my favorite quotes from each interview. By the time I finished the book, I had filled up half of my 7" x 5" notebook. Everyone the girls interviewed had so much to say in the span of 3 pages.

My favorite thing about the book is even though the people interviewed were big wigs, they were very relatable. My favorite interviews were with former Interview magazine editor Bob Colacello, designers Diane von Furstenberg and John Galliano, and model/"wise woman" Lauren Hutton.

If you still don't know what to get that special someone in your life, I highly recommend this book. It's what I would want to find under my Christmas tree this year.
